Frequently Asked Questions

Are we going to take anyone (non established/non student) who walks in and give them a flu shot?
No - encourage them to go to FLU clinic (dates below). - Advise that we CANNOT file their insurance if shot given at flu clinic. If possible provide flu clinic schedule. Of course if a VIP requests shot and they are not established we will create and account and see them as requested. VIP may be billed, or filed to insurance if provided.

Are we going to give students who walk in flu shots?
Yes - Advise flu clinic is better price if they prefer SHC make appointment, advise charge is $30 as always may be charged to student account.

What about flu shots for children?
  • Children 9 and over may have a single dose flu shot.
  • Children under 9 who have had a flu shot at any time may have a single dose flu shot.
  • Children under 9 years of age who have never had a flu shot should have the flu shot in split doses. We will not give split dose flu shots.

AHS/BCBS will not accept claims from individuals. If you want this claim filed you will need to get your flu shot from your healthcare provider.

May be charged to student account with MSU student ID
Enter encounter by patient name (no appointment)
Process as charge to account.

MSU staff/faculty who provide a banner number can charge to their department.

Established patients Student and Non Student -SHOT ROOM VISIT ONLY

Flu sheet at admissions
Charges to include admin fee $10 and vaccine fee $20. No charge the nursing visit 99211.
Medicare/Medicaid/Tricare do not pay at time of service - same charges.

Established patients -OFFICE VISIT WHERE CLINICIAN ORDERS FLU SHOT
Appointment with clinician
Flu sheet from HM generated by nurse/clinician
Charges to include admin fee $10 and vaccine fee $20. No charge the nursing visit 99211 since there will be an office visit charge.
Medicare/Medicaid/Tricare do not pay at time of service - same charges.
