Student Counseling ServicesWelcomeStudent Counseling Services supports the academic mission of Mississippi State University by facilitating the social, psychological, and academic functioning of students. In pursuit of this objective, we offer a variety of direct student services ranging from preventative psycho-educational programming, student mentoring, supportive counseling, group counseling, intensive psychotherapy, and 24 hour crisis intervention.We also serve as consultants and a training resource for faculty and staff. We are committed to the provision of high quality training of masters and doctoral level psychology and counseling students and to ongoing, meaningful research. In our work with students, we seek to remediate problems which are impairing the student's ability to function, but we also focus on developing strengths and facilitating healthy human growth. Utilizing a collaborative team approach, we support and encourage wellness and the pursuit of a positive psychology. We endorse the worth and dignity of all human beings and embrace diversity as a valued and important quality of human community. We view our mission as working to facilitate individual change as well as contributing to a supportive and growth-producing social environment through social advocacy and community building.
