Staff Counselor Position
Student Counseling Services at Mississippi State University currently has an opening for a Staff Psychologist or Staff Counselor. The successful candidate will be a multi-culturally affirming generalist and possess competency and experience in working with diverse populations, particularly women and minority students. Experience and demonstrated clinical competency in crisis management, substance abuse, Veterans’ issues, or eating disorders is highly desirable. The candidate should have a Student Affairs orientation and be enthusiastic about working as a part of a multi-disciplinary team.
This position reports to the Director of the Student Counseling Services and serves through University Health Services in the Division of Student Affairs. The Staff Psychologist or Staff Counselor is responsible for providing individual, group, and couples counseling to students, and crisis response in the after-hours emergency rotation. The Student Counseling Services staff currently consists of a Director, a Staff Psychiatrist, seven full time clinicians, three part-time clinicians, two clinical Graduate Assistants, an Administrative Assistant, and an Office Associate.
